Crossfyre News & Events Update

(updated January 18, 2008)

Jan 20: no Crossfyre -- enjoy your Martin Luther King, Jr. long weekend!

Jan 27:  normal place, normal time -- we'll be discussing spiritual types

Don't forget:  LOST Bible study starts up this month!  The McGraths have graciously opened their home to us again this year.  I heard some requests to hold meetings somewhere closer to the church, which I am open to, but unless someone suggests a concrete location we will meet at the McGraths' home.  The first meeting will be Thurs, Jan 31.  It's a special 2-hour episode that begins at 8 pm.

Feb 3:  Super Bowl party!  We're still searching for a location, so if someone is feeling adventurous, please let me know as soon as possible.

Also, that morning at church we will be collecting canned goods for the Souper Bowl of Caring.  All donations will go to DenUM.

*IMPORTANT* Are people interested in making sub sandwiches for a fundraiser again?  If so let me know, and please fill me in on how things worked before.

We talked in youth council meeting about volunteering at Warren Village the weekend of Feb 10.  However, Warren Village First Step is really in need of week-night volunteers.  They have asked if one night during the week we could provide dinner for about 25, and an after-dinner activity for the children.  I think this sounds like a great opportunity.  I'm wondering if people are interested, and if so, is Mon, the 11th or Wed, the 13th better for people.  Please respond as soon as possible so I can get back to Warren Village about our date.

Feb 17: no Crossfyre -- enjoy your Presidents' Day long weekend

Feb 23:  Lock In!

And don't forget about the Mid-High Girls' events:

Sat, Jan 19:  visit to Fraiser Meadows w/ Rainbow Bridge from 9:30 - 11:30

Sat, Feb 16:  make blankets for Project Linus -- Sr High Girls and Moms are also invited to this event!  If you are unfamiliar w/ Project Linus, it's an awesome organization that makes blankets for children who are seriously ill in the hospital, or have experienced a traumatic event, such as a natural disaster.  Many of you know that I was a student at Columbine High School in 1999 when the shootings occured.  Project Linus donated almost 2000 blankets to our school -- one for every student.  I still have and treasure mine  -- It was on my bed in my college dorm room, and spent 4 summers on an air mattress w/ me at ASP.  This is an awesome way to make a difference to someone!

Have a wonderful week!

Erin
